Frequently Asked Questions

You might have questions about joining the Voices of Hope Community Chorus. We’ve addressed common questions below.

When can I join the chorus?

Registration for each prep opens about two months before the prep begins and closes about a month prior to the starts of rehearsals. Note: Subject to change.

How can I join?

Contact us via email: info@voicesofhopecc.com. Please provide your name, phone number and email address. A Voices of Hope Community Chorus representative will follow up with you promptly to help you get started.

Where and when are rehearsals?

We rehearse once a week. Rehearsals are held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, in Park Ridge, IL on Thursdays from 7-9 p.m.

What kind of experience do I need to have?

Past choral experience would be wonderful, but it’s not required. A strong commitment to making excellent music, as well as to rehearsals and concerts, is required. If you can read music, it’s helpful.

Do I need to audition?

The Voices of Hope Community Chorus is a non-auditioned chorus; however, you’ll need to participate in a voice placement session. The session is held in private, so you won’t have to sing in front of others. During the session, Kevin Kelly, our Artistic Director, will assess what part (soprano, alto, tenor or bass) you’ll be best suited for. The voice placement sessions are held one to two weeks before rehearsals begin for each prep (each fall/spring concert period).

What kind of music do you sing?

We sing a wide variety of popular music.

What kinds of support or resources are available to choir members?

We provide our singers with online resources for practicing at home and rehearsing with us each week, including recorded voice parts for each song.

What are the registration fees?

Singer fees are currently $85 for each prep (each fall/spring concert period), which includes the music you’ll need. Note the fees are subject to change. You’ll also need to purchase concert attire. The chorus also offers a Financial Assistance Program for those in need.

How do I get the music?

You’ll receive your music scores at the first rehearsal for each prep. You can mark up and keep the scores forever.

When and where does the chorus perform?

We perform our fall and spring concerts at Glenview Community Church in Glenview, IL, and at Pilgrim Community Church in Oak Park, IL.
